Course Information: This is a CSU/UC transferable course. Prerequisite is Math 130 (intermediate algebra) and Math 120 (Geometry) with a grade of B or better. This course will give enough foundation for Pre Calculus. Six trig funcitons, radian measure, graphing and inverse functions, identities, formulas, equations and triangles will be discussed in a step by step process, including problems solving in the computers.

MATH 45 • College Algebra
Instructor: B.Anand
Course Information: This course is transferable to UC/CSU. Topics for this course include:
advanced Algebra Topics- involving functions, graphing, inverse functions, systems of equations and inequalities, Matrix, Sequence and Series and Conics. Most of the topics require the technology of a Graphing Calculator TI-83 or TI-83 plus.
Step by step approach of the class will enable the students to understand even the difficult concepts very easily.

Course Information:
This course uses multi-media materials. Well, what is multi-media material? You do not have an instructor lecturing to you like a traditional class. You will be using software and using the computers in the Math Learning Center (MLC) in the learning process. Also, the book is different from the one used in a regular class. It is called "Intermediate Algebra" by K. Elayn Martin Gay, and uses the software called "Interactive Math' by Prentice Hall. You will be covering most of the book. The software is accessible from the MLC computers. An instruction sheet will be provided to you during the next class meeting. The book is scheduled to be in this week (1/14/01). This week you will be reading the accompanying handout, and will work every other odd problem from sections 1.1 and 1.2 You are required to put in at least 5 hours per week for this class. Tutors are available for you to assist you in MLC. Also, I am in the process of establishing on line tutoring for this course. More about this later. Even though the class scheduled to meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, you are welcome to come any time the MLC is open, and can work on the computers. This actually allows you to complete the course much sooner.
