Java Fix for Impatica - Windows Vista

Many Distance Learning and Web Enhanced instructors use a program called Impatica to put their PowerPoint presentations on their course Web pages.

Some students have reported blank screens when they click on the links for these presentations. This seems to only occur with the Windows Vista operating system.

There appears to be a Java backward compatibility issue with Java 6 Update 11. A workaround that has worked for some users is as follows:

1.      Go to the Windows Control Panel and select Java.

2.      Next, click on the "Advanced" tab

3.      Expand the "Java Plug-in" section

4.      UNCHECK the "Enable the next-generation Java Plug-in" checkbox

5.      Click "Apply"

6.      Click "OK"

7.      Close your browser if it is still open

8.      Open your browser. It is necessary to restart the web browser for it to take effect.

9.      Access the Impatica file again
