Turn Off Pop-up Blocker
Pop-up windows are small Web browser windows that are frequently used for advertising. Internet Explorer allows you to prevent most pop-up windows from appearing, and Pop-up Blocker is turned on by default. However, some pop-ups that you open by clicking a link or button are useful. Examples of desirable pop-up windows could be login dialogs, forms, or blogging tool windows.

To disable pop-up blocking in Internet Explorer, Go to the Tools menu and choose Pop-up Blocker, then select Turn Off Pop-up Blocker.

Allow Pop-ups only for a Particular Site Alternatively, there might be some Web sites that you visit on a regular basis, and you may want to see only the pop-ups displayed by those sites. Just follow the steps below to allow pop-ups for a particular site:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings.
  3. In the Address of Web site to allow box, type the address (or URL) of the Web site you want to see pop-ups from, and then click Add.

Browser Add-ons
Pop-ups may also be being blocked on your computer by a Web browser add-on, such as Yahoo or Google toolbars, which are intended to add functionality to your Web browser. Most add-ons from the Internet require that you give your permission before they are downloaded to your computer. Some, however, might be downloaded without your knowledge. This can happen if you previously gave permission for all downloads from a particular Web site or because the add-on was part of another program that you installed.

To disable a browser add-on

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Manage Add-ons.
  3. Click the add-on you want to disable and then click Disable.
